Romania: The country has been a member of the European Union since the first of January, 2007. Time-zone: EET (UTC+2), Hungary +1 hour. Currency: Romanian lej RON; approximately 1 USD = 2,9 RON, 1 EUR = 4,1 RON. You can exchange it in the city at exchangers without charging a handling fee. For the accommodation, we accept EUR, RON and USD. When crossing borders, because of Romania’s membership in the EU, there is no formal clearance. Instead of a passport, it is enough to show a valid identity card. Weather: The weather in Transylvania is more diverse then in Hungary. In the high mountains, in the Carpathians and in the Bihar-mountain it is a bit cooler; in summer, this is very pleasant, in winter, we have snow for longer. In winter, do not forget to take snow-chains in your car! The condition of roads has improved a lot. In most of the cases, the European and regional roads have received new asphalt, in Transylvania as well.
